Answers to the questions we hear most often about private rooms and banquets, food and dietary needs, access, and arrangements for travel agencies – for both Togiya Kiyamachi-Oike and Togiya Karasuma-Sanjo.
Private Rooms and Banquets
Can you accommodate large groups or full-floor buyouts? How many people fit in a private room?
Yes. Togiya Kiyamachi-Oike offers full-floor buyouts for up to 48 guests, and Togiya Karasuma-Sanjo for up to 32 guests. Both restaurants are also happy to host smaller parties of 10-20 or more for welcome and farewell gatherings and get-togethers. Let us know your budget and group size and we will help plan the right space.
Can we order a la carte dishes in addition to a set course?
Yes – many guests add extra dishes, such as our signature mapo tofu, alongside their course.
Food and Dietary Diversity
What are your signature dishes?
As a “vegetable sommelier restaurant,” our three signature dishes are Seiro-Mushi (steamed seasonal vegetables), our special mapo tofu, and our Kyoto white miso soy-milk motsu hot pot.
Can you accommodate vegan, vegetarian, or allergy needs?
Yes. Drawing on our vegetable sommelier’s expertise, we can prepare vegan Seiro-Mushi and a dedicated dashi stock without animal products, and accommodate food allergies and religious dietary needs. Please let us know when you make your reservation – availability varies by location.
Access and Reservations
How do I get to each restaurant?
Togiya Kiyamachi-Oike is a 2-minute walk from Kyoto-Shiyakusho-mae Station (Tozai Line) and 5 minutes from Keihan Sanjo Station, right at the Kiyamachi-Oike intersection, next to Kyoto Hotel Okura. Togiya Karasuma-Sanjo is a 3-minute walk from Karasuma-Oike Station (Karasuma Line), 6 minutes from Shijo-Karasuma Station.
Do I need to book in advance? Can I walk in?
We strongly recommend booking ahead, either online, by phone, or by email, especially on weekends, during summer and festival season, and around year-end parties, when we are often fully booked.
For Travel Agencies and Tour Coordinators
Can you accept inbound group tours or bookings through a travel agency?
Yes. We regularly work with travel agencies and land operators, both in Japan and overseas, and have experience hosting inbound tour lunches and group dinner buyouts. We can adjust timing and build a custom course to fit your schedule and budget – just get in touch.
If a tour group includes guests with allergies or religious dietary restrictions, can you accommodate them individually?
Yes. Using our vegetable sommelier’s expertise, we can accommodate vegan, vegetarian, and halal-friendly requests, as well as individual food allergies, even for a single guest within a larger group. Please let us know in advance so we can confirm the details with you.
If your question isn’t answered here, please reach out by phone or email – we’re happy to help.
